Pictures from one-on-one workshop with Charlotte from Taiwan last autumn.
I love these private one-on-one floral workshops, because I get to know the person throughout the days, spending time together doing what I love to do the most.
I was lucky enough to spend time with Charlotte for two days in a row. We played with flowers together, made a bouquet and an urn arrangement together, had really lovely chats and had meals together.

work journal 17 | Bridal Bouquet for the autumn bride.

Bouquet design work a few months ago.
This was for my beautiful friend/colleague and I knew she loves pink!

This bouquet had to travel to Gyeongju, where the wedding took place, which is south part of Korea, takes about 2 hours from Seoul. So imagine my relief when the bride sent me the picture of her in her wedding gown, holding the bouquet with the biggest (and the most beautiful) smile.

I must say- bouquet designing is one of the favorite parts of my work. First, I get to hold the bouquet and look into the mirror while I make them (and dance a little) and play with delicate silk ribbons.
I tend to communicate with the bride a lot in the beginning process of bouquet designing, mostly because I feel the bridal bouquet is one of the key elements that shows the whole mood and theme of the wedding. It should capture the character of the bride and what she wants to speak through her special day. Pure joy...

So imagine my excitement when I heard one of my former student, who used to come to my floral classes for over 3 months was getting married! We have already spent a lot of time making beautiful flower arrangements together, I know her taste, favorite flowers, her personality and posture, and how she would hold the bouquet.

Since I am currently staying in Tokyo and the wedding was going to take place in Seoul, we had to exchange a lot of emails, sending pictures of dresses, flowers, the venue, and installations, back and forth.

The mood board. The bride is one of the people who was into mustard shade of yellow as much as I was last year, and we knew we had to have it for our main color.
I also pictured a few strings of clematis vines when I first saw her dress for the day, and luckily I could get them even tough it was a wasn't in season!
